SBLL'S Rookies A Division is geared for baseball players who have had one or two years of experience playing.  Rookies A is open to kids in 2nd Grade.  Rookies A is designed for kids to continue learning the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running.  Rookies A will introduce kid pitch by allowing kids to pitch the first few pitches to each batter, after which coaches will finish pitching the remainder of the at bat if the batter has not put the ball in play.  In this manner, kids will be introduced to the concepts of pitching and hitting against live pitching, while using coach pitch to allow the ball to be put into play and keep the game moving.   Balls and strikes will not be kept, and no batter will run the risk of striking out.   Scores are not kept, however outs are counted.  Players will alternate between all positions in the field.  Parents may request that players be placed with certain coaches or kids.  Teams will be formed by the Division Coordinator with the goal placing kids with their friends and peers.
